Submitted by the San Diego Sheriff's Department

Various events are being held to raise funds for Sheriff's Child Abuse Detective Ali Perez. Detective Perez was shot and wounded with Sergeant Craig Johnson while they were attempting to arrest a suspected child molester in Lakeside in September.

Sgt. Johnson, from the Santee Station, is currently recovering at home. But, Det. Perez faces many months of recovery in the hospital. It is unknown if or when he will return to work. This incident has been a financial hardship for the Perez Family including his two daughters in college.

Upcoming fundraising events:

Ride for Ali

Friends of Ali Rubio's Fundraiser

Stacked Restaurant Fundraiser

Save A Hero Blood Drive

Another Sheriff's Dept. event: Walk Like MADD in Memory of Fallen Santee Deputy Collier

This information is on behalf of many San Diego County residents and of others elsewhere who were victims of a Real Estate & Investment Scam run by Daniel Moreno and Gracie Perez (wife of Ali Perez the wounded sherriff and sister of Daniel Moreno). Daniel Moreno was convicted of this crime on October 4, 2012, altough Gracie wasn't charged investigations are continuing. The amount taken was well in excess of $2,000,000.00, and Gracie Perez is concerned about their financial future?? Wow, As victims, we are interested in making the public aware since many of the public donating, may be some of the victims they stole from and don't even connect the relationship. We would wonder where is all the mone

Regarding the previous comment, we wonder where is all the money now? This family isn't in a financial bind, check the public records, Perez's filed bankruptcy in 2008, interesting huh? No tax returns were ever filed on this money, either individual or business, nor did they have any type of license to do the type of transactions they were doing. So be aware if you're considering donating to this cause.
