Santee Deputies to Hold DUI Checkpoint Beginning Late Friday

The post will be watched until 3 a.m. Saturday.

Santee deputies will conduct a DUI checkpoint late Friday and early Saturday, according to the San Diego County Sheriffs Department.

They will be out from 8 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. No specific site was announced. Authorities will watch for unlicensed drivers too.

According to a news release, all vehicles passing through “may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested. Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs.”

The effort is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety, supported by federal grant money.
