Fatal Crash into Mission Trails Ravine Causes Traffic Detour

Saturday morning the corner of Mission Gorge Road and Golfcrest Drive was a mess of emergency vehicles and detoured traffic.

Around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, a vehicle flew through the guard rail above Mission Trails and fell about 100 t0 150 feet into the ravine below.

The San Diego Police and Fire Department confirmed that one fatality resulted from the crash, but would not give any other details.

Vehicles were not allowed through Mission Gorge in to San Diego, and traffic officers were at the scene detouring vehicles through Golfcrest Drive.

The Fire Department's Heavy Rescue crew was on scene because of the nature of the accident.
