Fire at El Cajon Medical Office Building Extinguished

Smoke from the office fire could be seen from Santee.

An electrical fire Tuesday at a medical office building in El Cajon caused about $200,000 in damage, but no one was injured, fire officials said.

Firefighters dispatched around 8 a.m. spotted heavy smoke pouring from the one-story building at 1321 East Main St., but had the blaze under control about 20 minutes later, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue Department.

The building was occupied when the fire broke out, but those inside were able to escape unharmed, Heartland Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Monica Zech said.
