Firefighters stopped the spread of a fire that charred around 15 acres of brush today in a canyon area near Santee Lakes.

The non-injury fire, which was reported shortly after 8 a.m., was burning in an unpopulated area north of the lakes, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue and sheriff's officials.

As of late morning, no evacuations had been ordered and no roads had been closed in the area, sheriff's officials said.

No structures were threatened, and crews expected to have the blaze fully contained by 4 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

Thanks to the quick response of the fire dept. the fire was contained and did not spread to any of the nearby homes before it was put out. Thank you to all of our brave fire fighters! Everyone close to a high fire area, we all need to be prepared for evacuation NOW!

" but if you ever watch the news you would have seen they caught a few teen boys doing just that. How else would a fire just start up in that area...." . . did you really just just say they caught a few boys (who are in jail) and they started another fire from jail???? oh my!!!!

Yes I know they are in jail.... Since I saw that on the news... I was using them as an example. What I'm trying to say is in my opinion it sounds like this was another act of arson since it was in such an odd area for a fire to start.....
