Four Drivers Arrested at Santee DUI Checkpoint

Deputies stopped vehicles Saturday night, checking driver's licenses and looking for signs of impairment.

Four drivers were arrested for suspicion of DUI Saturday night at a checkpoint staffed by sheriff’s deputies, according to Sgt. Scott Hill.

Deputies contacted 525 of the 546 vehicles that went through the checkpoint, and directed 28 drivers to a secondary inspection area. Field sobriety tests were given to 13 drivers, according to Hill.

Six citations were issued and six vehicles were towed. The four DUI arrests were the only arrests made at the checkpoint, which was funded by a grant provided by the state Office of Traffic Safety. The location of Saturday’s checkpoint was not released.
