High Speed Police Chase Ends in Crash, Starts in Santee

A red Pontiac sports car led law enforcement on a chase through Santee at speeds topping 100 m.p.h. and it ended in a rollover.

A chase that began in Santee Tuesday night ended in a crash near the westbound state Route 52 at Interstate 15 in San Diego.

The chase began about 8:50 p.m. at Mission Gorge and went throught the West Hills area in Santee at speeds up to 100 m.p.h. and ended in a crash about 10 minutes later, Lt. Kevin Menzies of the sheriff's department said. The California Highway Patrol asked for help from the sheriff's department, Menzies said.

The chase ended with a collision and rollover crash and the driver being taken to a hospital, a CHP dispatcher said.

According to NBC, the red Pontiac didn't stop for officers conducting a speed enforcement detail near the 125 freeway.

The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene and then arrested. No other injuries were reported.
