Lakeside Apartment Fire Injures One, Displaces Three

A apartment fire that spread to two units in a Lakeside complex displaced three people and send one of them to the hospital Sunday.

The blaze began about 8:15 a.m. at an apartment complex on Mapleview Street near Channel Road. The fire started in one unit and had spread to the adjacent one when firefighters arrived, a Heartland Fire & Rescue Department dispatcher said.

One person inside the first unit was taken to a local hospital. The person's condition was unknown, the dispatcher said.

Two people in the neighboring unit were displaced but not injured, he said. The cause and estimated damage of the fire were under investigation.
