Lakeside Woman Dead as Hopes Fade in Search for Boy, 8

The search for a missing teen and her brother extended beyond the state's borders Tuesday as investigators continued to probe the deaths of a Lakeside woman and a boy whose bodies were found following a house fire.

Christina Anderson of Lakeside was found Sunday after a fire in Boulevard, in far southeast San Diego County. The body of a male child also was recovered, according to 10News.com.

The report cites a Facebook posting in which the victim's sister identifies the remains recovered as those of Anderson and her son.

A relative posted on Facebook Tuesday morning that the family believes the dead child is Ethan Anderson, 8, though authorities put out an Amber Alert seeking both him and his sister Hannah, 16.

On the page, Prayers for Hannah Anderson, the relative wrote “Although it has not been confirmed that the childs body is Ethan, the reality is that we are sure it is him.”

The same person also posted, in explanation for why the page is dedicated to Hannah and not Ethan: “The focus is on Hannah because we still have a chance of getting her back, unfortunately we will never get Ethan or Tina back, they are with God, and always in our prayers.”

CBS8SanDiego.com reported that San Diego sheriff's officials said as of late Tuesday morning there have been no sightings of the suspect in the killing and the abductions, Jim DiMaggio, or the children. 

"He could be just about anywhere," Lt. Glenn Giannantonio told the station, adding that results of autopsies on the recovered bodies could be available in about two more days.

At a news conference late Monday, detectives said they believe the woman was killed prior to the fire, which was set in an attempt to cover up the death. 

As of Tuesday, investigators, according to CBS8, are still seeking both Hannah and Ethan Anderson. They were last seen Saturday.

The search for the children and DiMaggio has extended to Texas and Canada. 10News.com is reporting that the suspect has a criminal history in Texas while he resided there, and had warrants outstanding for his arrest. One charge was for fleeing police.

He is described as a family friend, though News10 is reporting he may have had feelings for Hannah Anderson.

Here are the descriptions released by investigators: 

DiMaggio, 40, is 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has been photographed with a dark goatee and clean shaven.

Hannah is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has blond hair and blue eyes and has several piercings, including a belly button ring, nose stud and pierced ears.

Ethan is 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 64 pounds, and has sandy blond hair.

They could be traveling in a blue Nissan Versa, license number 6WCU986, authorities said.
