A sheriff's deputy who allegedly got into a struggle with police officers when they arrested her on suspicion of driving while intoxicated outside a Carmel Mountain fast-food restaurant pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three misdemeanor charges, including DUI and resisting arrest.
Diedre R. Quenell, 42, was not present for Wednesday's arraignment. Her attorney faxed her not guilty plea to court officials.
Officers responding to a report of a woman driving erratically in a parking lot near the McDonald's in the 11900 block of Carmel Mountain Road took Quenell into custody shortly after midnight on Aug. 15, according to San Diego police.
Quenell, who allegedly was uncooperative with the officers as they detained her, was taken to Las Colinas women's detention center in Santee and later released on $2,500 bail.
A readiness conference was scheduled Dec. 13 at the downtown courthouse.
