Man Airlifted from Sycamore Canyon Due to Snakebite

A man hiking in the hills just north of Santee was airlifted to a hospital on Saturday.

A man was bitten by a snake in , in the hills just north of Santee, on Saturday and airlifted by a helicopter to Sharp Memorial Hospital, a fire dispatcher said.

The bite was reported around 3:30 p.m. in the canyon near Mission Gorge Road and Carlton Hills Boulevard, according to a dispatcher.

It is unclear what type of snake bit the man and the extent of his injury.
