Man Hospitalized After Rollover Crash Down an Embankment on Route 67

A man lost control of his vehicle, which rolled down an embankment in Santee Saturday, and was hospitalized.

The crash at 12:28 p.m. on southbound Highway 67 south of Riverford Road, Heartland Fire Dispatcher Scott Cullen said.

" The car rolled down the embankment onto Woodside Avenue North," Cullen said. "The person was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters." The person was taken to Sharp Memorial Trauma Center for treatment.

Firefighters from Lakeside's Riverview and River Park fire stations assisted Santee Fire with the rescue, and got into the vehicle through the windshield after using hydraulic rescue cutters to remove part of the vehicle's roof, according to a Lakeside Fire Protection District report.

San Diego sheriff's deputies, the CHP and fire units from Barona Indian Reservation assisted in the rescue effort.
