Update: Man Shot in Santee Last Week Dies: Suspect Arrested

Anthony Tesch, 41, was shot early Friday morning on Prospect Avenue. His brother has been arrested for suspicion of first-degree murder.

A 41-year-old man who was placed on life support after being shot at a residence on Prospect Avenue last week died Sunday morning, and by Sunday night his brother was in custody for the fatal shooting, according to authorities.  

Anthony Tesch died at 9:30 a.m. at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was transported by helicopter early Friday morning, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. By Friday afternoon the Sheriff’s Department had identifying 36-year-old Joseph Todd “Happy” Hall as a suspect considered armed and dangerous.

During the investigation detectives learned that Tesch and Hall were brothers, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Hall was arrested in the 10000 block of Riverford Avenue in Lakeside just after 10 p.m. Sunday by members of the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to the department.

Hall was booked into San Diego Central Jail on one count of first-degree murder.

On Friday, deputies responded to reports of a man wounded by gunfire just after 5 a.m. in the 10000 block of Prospect Avenue. Personnel from the Santee and Lakeside fire departments treated Tesch until he was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

Investigators from the , Homicide Detail, and Sheriff’s Crime Lab are participating in this investigation.
