Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old man suffering from a non-life- threatening gunshot wound to one of his feet, Lt. Jeff Davis said. Medics took him to Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, a Heartland Fire & Rescue dispatcher said.

The alleged shooter, 29-year-old Cein Michael Kelley of El Cajon, had been detained and disarmed by several other men who were at the tavern when the shots rang out, according to Davis.

Witnesses alleged that Kelley had gotten into an argument while inside the bar, then left, returned a short time later and opened fire with a revolver at a group of people outside the business, the lieutenant said.

It was unclear if the wounded man was an intended target.

Kelley was arrested at the scene and booked into county jail. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
