Deputies had to use an electric stun gun today to subdue a combative carjacking suspect on an Santee roadside.
Kirell Rybarev, 25, allegedly assaulted a valet-parking attendant at in Lakeside early Monday morning and stole the four-door Acura sedan the victim had just retrieved for a customer, sheriff's Sgt. Tom Poulin said. The worker suffered facial injuries during the crime, the sergeant said.
At about 7 a.m., sheriff's personnel found Rybarev standing in front of a home on Molino Street in Santee. The suspect allegedly began struggling as they tried to take him into custody, prompting one of them to use the stun gun on him.
Deputies found the stolen car parked nearby.
"Attached to the vehicle was a stolen license plate that had been taken (during) a theft in the El Cajon area earlier in the day," Poulin said.
Rybarev was booked into county jail on suspicion of carjacking, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
