Mission Trails Brush Fire Along SR-52, Near Mast, Under Control

A short lived brush fire blackened eight acres of Mission Trails land, causing traffic delays, but no injuries.

Firefighters stopped the spread of a brush fire along SR-52 in Mission Trails Park, west of the Mast Boulevard exit, around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a dispatcher.

About eight acres of land was blackened, but no structure damage or injuries were reported. Dispatchers say brush caught fire from a car fire on the side of the interstate.

Ground crews and a helicopter battled the blaze.

The fire was reported just short of 3 p.m. and stopped traffic for a short while. Traffic was backed up to SR-163 as crews contained the fire and cleaned up the aftermath.

This joins the headlines with a four-acre brush fire in Mission Valley that was brought under control early Tuesday afternoon, and a  on Monday.
