PHOTOS: One Critically Injured in Head-On Crash Near Lakeside

One person was critically injured in a head-on collision Sunday in the Dehesa area near Lakeside, fire officials said.

Fire personnel arrived to find several people with with varying injuries following the crash about 8:15 a.m. Oct. 13 in the vicinity of Dehesa Road and Matamo Place.

One person was trapped inside one of the vehicles, according to the Lakeside Fire Protection District. That person was extricated, and the severity of his or her injuries was not disclosed.

One critically injured person was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital, fire officials said.

Another injured person was taken by ambulance to a hospital, according to Cal Fire, who also responded.

San Miguel firefighters, Cal Fire, the Syquan Fire Department and the Lakeside Fire District all assisted in the rescue.
