Operation Silent Night Leads to 10 Arrests at Bradley Ave. Apartments

Police performed a probation compliance check at the Terraza Hills apartments because of a 57% increase in criminal activity in the area.

Ten people were in police custody Wednesday following a probation compliance check at the Terraza Hills apartment complex due to a rise in criminal activity in that area of East Bradley Avenue.

Operation Silent Night was conducted at the apartments of 15 people on probation at 425 East Bradley Avenue from 6:45 to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Eight adults and two juveniles were arrested on outstanding warrants and drug charges, a loaded weapon and child endangerment, according to authorities.

The Sheriff's Department said the purpose of the check was to ensure the probationers were complying with the conditions of their release.

Police said the area of East Bradley Avenue showed a 57 percent increase in criminal activity this year compared to 2012, including burglaries, a robbery and two shootings. They said this increase prompted the compliance check. The department said they targeted the Terraza Hills complex because they "identified a concentration of offenders with probation conditions."

The most recent shooting in the area happened in November outside a liquor store where a bystander was shot. A suspect in that incident was recently arrested.

"Our goal is to address these issues to help the citizens of our community feel safe and to enjoy the quality of life in their neighborhoods,"

Detectives from the Santee Sheriff's Station aided in the check.
