Police Search for Shooter in El Cajon 24 Hour Fitness Altercation

El Cajon Police are asking the public to help ID a man suspected in a shooting on Monday.

A 28-year-old man who was shot in the abdomen in El Cajon was hospitalized in stable condition Wednesday as investigators searched for the shooter, police said.

The shooting near the 24 Hour Fitness at 198 W. Main St. was reported at 8:51 p.m. Monday, according to an El Cajon police statement.

The wounded man managed to stumble into the gym after he was shot, said El Cajon police Lt. Tim Henton, adding that he later underwent surgery and was expected to survive.

Investigators determined the man was involved in an altercation with another male in the parking lot on the west side of the gym, the lieutenant said. The source of the dispute was not clear, he said.
