Report: Driver Who Died on Route 52 Exceeded 100 MPH

Sergio J. Dyda was ejected in the fatal wreck early Sunday.

Authorities said Tuesday that the late Sergio Joseph Dyda, who lived in Santee, was driving more than 100 mph on state Route 52 before losing control and crashing early Sunday.

The incident occurred at 4:46 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Santo Road in Tierrasanta.

According to the California Highway Patrol the Subaru Outback Dyda was driving went out of control and across the lanes before slamming into the center divider. Dyda was ejected and the car kept moving for about a mile.
