RV Battery Theft Spree Across Santee, Track Reports Here

Reports of stolen vehicle batteries across Santee, especially from RVs, seem to have spiked this month in the Sheriff records and on board posts on Santee Patch.

There have been at least 30 reports of vehicle break ins and thefts in Santee so far this month, according to CrimeMapping.com. You can see a map of the thefts here. Not all of these are stolen auto parts or batteries, but it gives an idea of where these crimes are occurring. CrimeMapping.com also shows that the peak of vehicle break ins this month has been midweek, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Streets that have been targeted include Pebble Beach, Medina Drive, Princess Joann, Braverman, Len Street, Maple Tree, and Ashdale Lane.

The Santee Sheriff's Station has told victims that they are aware of the spike in incidents and will step up patrols in response.

The best suggestion I've read for securing your batteries: "My RV's batteries were stolen a year or so ago. I now put chains and padlocks around them."
