Scam in Santee: Teens Pretend to be Santana Baseball Players in Need

They told residents that they were part of the Santana High School baseball team and need to raise money to travel to a game.

News outlets are reporting that one or two teens went door-to-door to all of the homes on Huntingride Court in Santee last week and told residents that they were part of the baseball team and needed to raise money to travel to a game.

Now, neighbors say they were being scammed, and Santana High School Athletic Director John Bobof told 10News there is no baseball team trip to Hawai'i.

The male teens were described as white, 6-feet, 2-inches tall with a thin build,  going by the name of Jeff and having checks made to "Seth Tucker."

It is advised that if residents encounter a similar situation, to ask for school identification and take a photo of the person asking for money.

The pair may have made more than a few hundred dollars using the scam in just the one neighborhood.
