A family of eight was displaced from their home Sunday night in Santee as firefighters worked to extinguish a house fire on Ellsworth Lane.
Heartland firefighters responded to the fire around 9:30 p.m., entered the home and used an axe to gain access to the roof, according to a report by NBC San Diego.com.
No injuries were reported, but a family of five adults and three children are left unable to stay in their damaged home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
