2 Held on Marijuana Sale Charges, Accused of Violating Social Host Law

An 18-year-old is in custody on suspicion of selling marijuana to high school students out of his father's garage in Santee, authorities said.

Bryce Randall was arrested in the 9000 block of Mavin Drive Wednesday afternoon after deputies and detectives went to the residence to serve a search warrant based on residents' complaints about teenagers coming and going from the home's garage, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

While serving the warrant, sheriff's personnel found 10 teenagers, including seven under 18, in the garage, which was known to area youth as "The Cavern," according to the Sheriff's Department, which said the raid also turned up evidence of marijuana sales.

"According to sources during the investigation, the 'Cavern' was the place where teenagers would come, hang out, smoke marijuana, buy marijuana and smoke tobacco from a water pipe known as a Hooka," a Sheriff's Department statement said.

Randall's father, who owns the house, was not home when the warrant was served but later acknowledged he knew children were hanging out there, authorities said. He denied any knowledge of marijuana being smoked at his house or sold there.

The younger Randall was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, contributing to the delinquency of minors and violating Santee's , which forbids anyone from knowingly hosting a gathering in which minors consume alcohol or drugs. About half an ounce of marijuana was discovered at the residence and the Sheriff's Department said they suspect small quantities were being sold.

Randall was booked into San Diego Central Jail in lieu of $26,000 bail, according to jail records, which showed he could be arraigned as early as Friday afternoon.

Authorities said an underage runaway was also arrested at the "Cavern" on suspicion of the same crimes as Randall. The other were not arrested because they were not under the influence and weren't , as they had just been released from school, according to Sergeant Craig Johnson with the .
