The San Diego County is holding a Women's Career Exhibition, in part in order to staff the expansion of the in Santee.
"We are creating a large pool of diverse and qualified female candidates for the 2016 opening of the Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee," said the Sheriff's press release, which focused on the exhibition, and only briefly mentioned Las Colinas.
Santee Patch is inquiring with the Sheriff's Deptartment to get more information about the opening of the , which has gotten a lot of negative publicity due to .
The envisioned project, at least the last plans shown to the public, triples Las Colinas' current 15-acre size. The final possible legal effort by the City of Santee and nearby developers to halt of the on environmental grounds faltered in a San Diego County courtroom in October.
The Women's Carreer Exhibition will take place Saturday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Department Main Office at 9621 Ridgehaven Court.
According to the Sheriff's Department, "there are 170 vacancies in law enforcement, detentions and professional divisions for both men and women." At the event, attendees will learn about all of these opportunities.
The event will include demonstrations, food and people on hand to answer any questions.
