Shooting Rampage Starts in El Cajon, Leaves Two Dead, One Wounded

Saturday's two-city shooting spree left a police officer and the gunman dead and an El Cajon man recovering.

A shooting rampage that started in El Cajon and ended in City Heights on Saturday night left an El Cajon man recuperating in a trauma center from a shotgun blast to the face and a San Diego police officer dead.

Martin Hanna, 22, underwent extensive reconstructive surgery and was
expected to recover, according to police.

Dejon Marquee White approached Hanna as he sat in his car on North Magnolia Avenue in El Cajon and fired a shotgun blast at Hanna around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Marquee then drove to University Avenue and 45th Street in City Heights about 15 minutes later, and allegedly shot a San Diego police officer, 36-year-old Jeremy Henwood, as he sat behind the wheel at a traffic stop.

Henwood was fatally wounded by a head shot, according to Scripps Memorial Hospital.

White's car was found near his apartment in the 4000 block of 48th Street, and officers confronted him. White grabbed his shotgun and police fatally shot him.

A suicide note with no specific motive or mention of what he was planning to do was found in White's apartment, according to police.
