Santee Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of an injured male at at 9 p.m. Tuesday night and found that he had been stabbed multiple times, according to Seargent Tom Poulin.
A 25-year-old male, whose name hasn't been released, was found "staggering" around the basketball courts with five stab wounds to the back and back of the arms. He is identified as a resident of Santee.
Poulin said that two individuals approached the victim, the suspects had hooded sweatshirts, they got out of the car, walked to court, confronted the victim, ran back to the car and drove away. No suspects have been identified.
Witnesses reported Sheriff, Fire and ambulance vehicles at the park for hours and part of the street in front of the park was blocked to traffic.
The victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital last night, and after several hours of surgery he is in stable condition, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Poulin said Detectives are following up on leads and interviewing the victim Wednesday, but motive for the attack has yet to be found.
