Suspect Found and Arrested in El Cajon Bank Robbery

Last week the FBI asked for the public's help in finding a bank robbery suspect, and, as a result, she's been charged.

The San Diego FBI announced the arrest of Cathy Rae Salmond, 30, under suspicion for the July 22 .

The FBI had the unknown female suspect based on numerous security camera still photos that showed her full face. As a result, numerous calls came in identifying Salmond as the robbery suspect.

Salmond was arrested July 28 in the vicinity of the 500 block of North Mollison in El Cajon, and was taken into custody by on a misdemeanor warrant unrelated to the bank robbery, according to the FBI. She was then interviewed by an El Cajon Police detective and an FBI agent and booked into the Detention Facility.

On Friday, Salmond was charged with one count of bank robbery in the case.

According to the FBI, on Friday, July 22, at about 3:50 p.m., an unknown female, now suspected to be Salmond, robbed the , at 1234 East Main Street, in El Cajon. The suspect gave a demand note to the teller which indicated that the female suspect’s son was being held hostage and demanded all of the teller’s money. After being given less than $400, the suspect left the bank.

Salmond will appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on Tuesday, August 2. This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
