Three Arrested After Bottle Bombs Explode
Two bombs made with plastic water bottles have exploded since Tuesday night. Nobody was injured in the blasts and damage was minimal.
Chemical acid bombs made with plastic water bottles exploded in front of a Santee residence Wednesday, resulting in three arrests, but no one was injured.
The bombs exploded in the 9400 block of Mast Boulevard about 5:30 a.m., said Detective Dan Wilson of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The detective described the damage as minimal.
Shortly afterward, deputies stopped a vehicle nearby and arrested the three occupants, according to Wilson, who said items related to the bombs were allegedly found inside the vehicle.

The arrestees—their names, ages and genders were not immediately released—were booked into county jail on suspicion of possession of an explosive device, Wilson said.
Investigators were looking into whether Wednesday’s incident was related to a similar non-injury explosion on Clifford Heights Road. A bottle bomb exploded on a home’s front porch in the 8500 block of Clifford Heights Road about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.
