Traffic Jam: Rescue Caused Slowing, Backup on State Route 52

Responders aided a woman in cardiac arrest while pulled over on the right shoulder of the highway.

Traffic slowed down for a time on state Route 52 Tuesday, affecting traffic leading to Santee as emergency personnel attended to a woman in cardiac arrest.

An ambulance was on the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes of the highway at Kearny Villa Road at about 1:50 p.m., said Maurice Luque, a spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The patient was transported to a local hospital after paramedics helped restore her pulse.

A CHP spokesman said traffic in the area was moving, but at reduced speeds, after 2 p.m.
