1,200 Lakeside residents were without power during the early hours Friday morning.

A pickup truck crashed into a power pole in Lakeside early Friday morning, causing more than 1,200 customers to lose power.

The white Toyota Tundra was travelling on Lakeview Road near Lakeview Elementary School when it knocked down a power pole around 12:50 a.m., causing major damage to two additional poles, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

CHP officers could not find the driver of the Tundra when they arrived at the crash scene but spotted blood on the vehicle and believe the motorist could be seriously injured, the dispatcher said. Officers requested a sheriff's helicopter to help locate the driver, she said.
