Call to 'Impeach Obama' Comes to Main Street Santee

Volunteers working with LaRouchePAC took up residence in front of Santee's Post Office Friday.

No, the poster of Obama-Santa-with-a-Hitler-Mustache wasn't a sign of the end of the world on Friday, it was just a call to impeach the President and prevent World War III.

Volunteers working with LaRouchePAC, a political action group that promotes Lyndon LaRouche and his ideas, took up residence in front of Santee's Post Office Friday, gaining the attention of thousands of motorists on Mission Gorge Road and the bustling holiday mailing activity.

Two volunteers spent hours at their portable cart speaking with many curious pedestrians, sharing pamphlets and displaying signs with messages such as: "Obama Loves Al Queda" and "Stop World War III- Impeach Obama Now!"

Santeeans young and old stopped by the booth to discuss politics and many car horns honked as they drove by, along with a fair number of disapproving glances from passing cars. The booth offered no tangible way to impeach Obama- no petition to sign or anything like that, but passers by could sign up to financially support LaRouchePAC.

Lyndon LaRouche, the leader of this political movement, is a well known fringe political figure that has run for President eight times, and is difficult to classify in the usual left-right political spectrum. The PAC has been described as a "cult of personality," and is known for its devoted following. The two volunteers in Santee had worked with the movement for more than 12 years each.

Ideas promoted by the PAC range from ousting Obama for colluding with Al Queda in Syria and Libya, "How Andrew Jackson destroyed the United States," to advocating the development of major economic infrastructure projects.

According to their website:

"Lyndon LaRouche and LaRouchePAC are what stand between you and an otherwise inevitable collapse of civilization..."

"It is now undeniable; as the euro continues its free fall amidst increasing ungovernability, threatening to pull the entire world economy down with it, the threat of thermonuclear warfare, sparked by the tinder box of the Middle East with a crazed puppet Obama, blazes stronger everyday."

Nothing in today's society surprises me any more as we have more whack-jobs than we do sane individuals; however, I appreciate and treasure that we still have liberty to express those same beliefs, no matter whether we agree with them or not, thanks to our men and women in the military who continue to defend this same freedom all of America enjoys.

I agree-well said--we do have free speech-but this makes me sick.

And no permit required to set up in front of a US Post Office -and hand out this
kind of stuff? I hope no one takes this stuff serious.

Pjerome, but it was ok to spout impeach Bush? Guess no one will ever be satisfied...

It's not the worst article about LaRouche I've ever read, but why would you link to opinion pieces like the peculiar op-ed against California infrastructure projects, or the Wikipedia propaganda mill? On another topic, it appears that some of your readers are unfamiliar with the First Amendment, as well as the rudiments of grammar and spelling.

As much as I agree Obama should be impeached this is not the way to do it.
Martin December 29, 2012 at 04:53 am
May I ask on what grounds would you have him impeached?

Can't send messages to Dad because he's now deceased, but my dad was very wise...He'd say thingsRead More like: "You can get arrested for what you say, but not what you think!" - or - "Take care of your feet, and they'll take care of you!" My dad wasn't much for words, but he was always a stable figure growing up and was loyal to mom throughout the years. Nowadays, that in and of itself is honorable! Thank you Dad! In Loving Memory...
