Checks to Be Delayed for Santee, Lakeside Unemployed, Disabled

The delay of at least one day is due to state computer upgrades.

Benefit payments will be delayed by at least one day for Santee and Lakeside recipients and others throughout the state while California's employment department temporarily shuts down its database for system upgrades.

Next week's delay will affect checks for unemployment, disability and paid family leave.

“We apologize to our customers for any inconveniences experienced during this time and encourage them to plan their personal finances accordingly," Sharon Hilliard, the unemployment department's chief deputy director, said in a statement.

The EDD will be making changes to its online system to offer more features to users. More details about all of the services affected by the temporary shutdown, which is expected to end at 6 a.m. Tuesday, are available here.
