City Leaders Release Gift and Investment Disclosures

They decide where Santee is headed, and these forms show any potential economic conflicts of interest.

Once a year, city leaders and elected officials must submit forms indicating what gifts they've received and where their income has been derived, so that any potential conflicts of interest between the good of the public and the good of the individual are out in the open.

Last month the annual Form 700 disclosures, the state-mandated statements of economic interest were released. Normally one has to go down to City Hall to see these records, but Santee Patch has made them available- Mayor, City Council, and City Manager forms can be seen in the media box.

Here is a rundown on the important pieces of information in the most recent filings:

City Manager was given the following gifts in 2010: $123 dinner at a conference at the law offices of the Santee City Attorney, $200 Padre baseball tickets for two from the Home of Guiding Hands disabled charity.

City Attorney owns Verizon Commuincations stock valued at $2,000 - $10,000.

Councilmember indicated holdings in Madcatz Manufacturing, $10,00 - $$100,000 in stock, and Fidelity Banking, $10,00 - $$100,000 in stock.

Councilmember , who also had to file for his SANDAG position, indicated he received the most gifts amongst Santee's city leaders, more than $850 worth of tickets to events and meals:

Councilmember submitted no indications of investments, property, or other income, and Councilmember and filed no gifts and no investments or income of note.
