City of Santee to Recognize Marines Lost in Combat

The next city council meeting will be adjourned in honor of nine Marines recently lost from one battalion.

This week's will be adjourned in memory of "our fallen heroes lost in combat in Afghanistan. 'Darkhorse' 3rd Battalion 5th Marines have been engaged in heavy combat and lost 12 marines; nine in just four days."

"Santee's , 2nd Battalion 1st Marine Regiment 'The Professionals' has lost 29 KIA and 203 WIA in the last 7 years. Another adopted unit, the Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron 462 'Heavy Haulers' has lost no Marines with some operational wounds," Mayor Randy Voepel said in an email.
