Quail Brush Power Plant Hearing and Site Visit

More than 50 people showed up to Wednesday's meeting at Mission Trails to obeserve the hearing an many had public comments to give to the committee. In the next day or two I will be posting a video of the site tour and summarizing where the project development stands.

City Council Meeting

• The appeal of the decision of the Santee Manufactured Home Fair Practices Commission (MHFPC) regarding the request for an  submitted by Equity Lifestyle Properties (ELP) for the  was voted down unanimously by the council. The council continues to fully support and fight for the mobile home rent control ordinance.

El Cajon Garage Fire

A fire destroyed a garage at a home in El Cajon Wednesday. The fire in the 300 block of Richfield Avenue in El Cajon was reported just before 4 p.m., El Cajon Public Information Officer Monica Zech said.

Twenty firefighters from Heartland Fire & Rescue knocked the blaze down in 15 minutes. The firefighters were able to keep the fire from reaching an attached home, as well as two other nearby homes. There was some minor smoke damage to the home and the damage to the content and structure of the garage was estimated at $50,000.

Some family members were at home at the time of the fire and were alerted to the blaze by a passerby who pounded on their front door.
