Daily Dose: Red Shoe Fundraiser

Property tax bills are set to be mailed soon and if you have any money left over after that, consider donating to San Diego's Ronald McDonald House charity on the way to work.

• Wednesday is for San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House- keep an eye out for volunteers collecting donations at the intersection of Mast Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.

More than 1,000 volunteers will be stationed at major intersections throughout San Diego County. The Ronald McDonald House charity offers a range of services– including food, lodging and emotional support– to the families of critically ill or injured children being treated at San Diego-area hospitals.

• San Diego County revenues are expected to rise by about $66 million this fiscal year compared to last, which is significant because property tax revenue has dropped the last couple years, Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister said today.

Bills are set to be mailed to 978,873 property owners, expected to net the County $5.54 billion, McAllister said.

"We owe this increase to a couple of factors, lower number of appeals and new assessments resulting from change of ownerships or new construction," he said.
