Pardee is proposing the destruction of “west hills” viewshed and wildlife habitat in Sycamore Canyon across from West Hills High School and adjacent to Santee Lakes with a 430-unit “Castlerock” project. We no longer have an injunction preventing grading so your participation in public hearings is vital.
The project will increase existing residents vulnerability to wildfire by converting an area that is now largely self-defensible into an area that requires and diverts fire suppression resources during wind-driven firestorms.
Since this area has one of the most popular mountain biking trails in the County en route to Goodan Ranch, many people incorrectly assume the site is conserved as part of Mission Trails Regional Park.
