Santee's voter party affiliation hasn't changed much since the , with far more Republicans than Democrats and voters that "decline to state" on the rise, according to voter registration data released this week.
Confirming the city’s conservative status ahead of the June 5 primary election, the county Registrar of Voters Office said the GOP outnumbered Democrats here 13,092 to 8,067 as of April 30.
With 29,501 registered voters, Santee has 6,666 declining to identify themselves by any party.
The change from breaks down to slightly fewer Democrats, less than ten more Republicans, and more than 400 new voters that "decline to state."
The next-biggest affiliation in Santee is the American Independent Party, with 1,123 members, say the figures (attached).
Then come the Libertarian Party (227) and the Green Party (109).
By percentage, the city is 44 percent Republican, 27 percent Democrat and 23 percent not listing a preference.
In 2010, the , so nearly 55 percent of the city population is registered to vote in the next election.
