Guess the city of santee will elect a new mayor in Nov. Just keep in mind our current mayor called us "Hicksville". Maybe we need some new blood to change that.

Don't be fooled by Council members Minto and Dale's sudden rush to defend Santee from the power plant situation. I was at the February City Council meeting when one of the members of the Stop the Santee Power Plant spoke about the objections to it being built, and invited the Mayor and City Council members to one of the Stop the Santee Power Plant meetings that were then being held at Pinnacle Peaks Restaurant. Their reaction was demeaning and offensive with Mayor Voepel stating "I'll be on my cruise by then" and Council member Minto joking about he would be "able to see the lights of the power plant from his hot tub on his patio," and Council members Ryan, McNellis, and Dale of course saying....nothing, in reaction to this woman's request. There IS an election coming up and both Mayor Voepel and Council member Dale know they have raised the ire of the citizens of Santee with their lack of response, in fact, their total silence on the power plant issue BEFORE they were against it. Make no mistake about it, the REAL heros here in this fight are the small group of citizens that found out about that power plant, found out that the City Council knew about it in May of 2011 and stayed silent instead of doing their jobs as elected Representatives of the citizens, and FOUGHT to make their fellow citizens aware of the problem. Jack Dale admitted he went to the meetings and researched the proposal at the request of Mayor Voepel. He wasn't interested enough on his own?

About 20 years ago a friend in Arizona said his university environmental studies course was taking a field trip all the way to Santee, California. They were studying our model water reclamation facilities. Exciting that Santee could again take the lead in sustainability via community energy planning. Eager to learn more about this and support councilmembers Dale and Minto in their initiative.
