Don't be fooled by Council members Minto and Dale's sudden rush to defend Santee from the power plant situation. I was at the February City Council meeting when one of the members of the Stop the Santee Power Plant spoke about the objections to it being built, and invited the Mayor and City Council members to one of the Stop the Santee Power Plant meetings that were then being held at Pinnacle Peaks Restaurant. Their reaction was demeaning and offensive with Mayor Voepel stating "I'll be on my cruise by then" and Council member Minto joking about he would be "able to see the lights of the power plant from his hot tub on his patio," and Council members Ryan, McNellis, and Dale of course saying....nothing, in reaction to this woman's request. There IS an election coming up and both Mayor Voepel and Council member Dale know they have raised the ire of the citizens of Santee with their lack of response, in fact, their total silence on the power plant issue BEFORE they were against it. Make no mistake about it, the REAL heros here in this fight are the small group of citizens that found out about that power plant, found out that the City Council knew about it in May of 2011 and stayed silent instead of doing their jobs as elected Representatives of the citizens, and FOUGHT to make their fellow citizens aware of the problem. Jack Dale admitted he went to the meetings and researched the proposal at the request of Mayor Voepel. He wasn't interested enough on his own?

P.S. - Smart Meter opt out deadline tomorrow!!! Please forward this to all your contacts. To opt out of your smart meter please call 877-357-8525 by June 15th. There is a charge however write "Extortion" on your check. At some point they will not be able to charge this fee with all the pressure. Last November, you couldn't opt out so we have already succeeded in changing that. The smart meters are an invasion of our privacy; recording usage of each appliance, raising rates at times of peak usage or at some later date turning the power off because of over usage.

SDG&E has commited scorched earth policy in Mexico and San Diego County. 200 people from Santee voiced opposition at a CEC meeting to a power plant in their park and the next day SDG&E fabricated a brown out in that neighborhood of Santee. Get your analog meter back then do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJrleGtE2Mk

About 20 years ago a friend in Arizona said his university environmental studies course was taking a field trip all the way to Santee, California. They were studying our model water reclamation facilities. Exciting that Santee could again take the lead in sustainability via community energy planning. Eager to learn more about this and support councilmembers Dale and Minto.

Very Pleased that our Council is looking into an Energy Master Plan progressive ideas to secure our energy future for our community and not be at the mecy of huge corporations" Wow, sounds like a CARB/SANDAG commercial! There is nothing progressive about wanting to control the actions and lives of others. This mentality has been around since human beings appeared on this planet. Today's version has just been re-packaged and promoted with new marketing campaigns called "renewable" and the obsessively over used "sustainable" The United States Constitution was written as a defensive measure from the self promoting "progressive" minded, and their pursuit of control, no matter what the name they chose to inflict themselves on others with in the future.

Council members & individuals (including me) have gone through an educational process - then taken positions. Fact: Santee City Council unanimously opposed QB. Fact: Quail is not needed. Fact: We have more than 15,000 MW of extra capacity in the State without San Onofre. Brown outs are caused by grid mismanagement incentivized by Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs) profit motives. Fact: Anti-competitive obstacles prevent people from utilizing their entire roof to get paid for producing power (exception Marin Energy Community Choice Aggregation (CCA). Fact: Natural gas is not clean and the new “fracking” technology used to extract it is permanently destroying domestic water supplies across the country. Fact: German solar power is equivalent to 20 nuclear power plants and has more solar capacity than the rest of the world combined. Solar capacity now provides half of its power needs on weekends – this in a nation with relatively little sunshine. Fact: San Diego can use solar to be energy independent if we cleared the IOU obstacles and unleashed the free market. Marin Energy Authority is the model far outpacing the IOUs in renewable content, paying people for clean power they produce and returning the CCA start-up investment in two years. Are we really so energy desperate that we are willing to trash our parks, public lands, poison our water and damage our health, or are we so brainwashed by the IOU status-quo talking points that we can’t open our minds to a better approach?

More specialised decision making structures mean councillors are expected to perform a range of different roles, such as, policy overview & scrutiny, executive decision making, political leadership, determining planning applications and community representation. The city manager position in this form of municipal government is similar to that of corporate chief executive officer, providing professional management to the board of directors. Council manager government is much like a publicly traded corporation. Thanks. Regards, http://www.paymentprocessingsolutions.org/

Most councillors are not full time professionals, although most councils do pay them a basic allowance and out of pocket expenses. In addition special responsibility allowances are paid to councillors who carry out more senior roles. Thanks. Regards, http://www.loweforcongress.com/
