Padre Dam Seats Reelected Directors and Appoints 2013 Officers

Augie Caires and Augie Scalzitti were both recently reelected to serve a new four year term on Padre Dam's Board.

The Board of Directors of Padre Dam Municipal Water District swore in and seated two returning board members and appointed board officers for 2013. Augie Caires and Augie Scalzitti were both recently reelected to serve a new four year term on Padre Dam’s Board. The Board unanimously appointed Bill Pommering as president, James Peasley as vice president and Doug Wilson as treasurer.

“We are all pleased to have Directors Caires and Scalzitti returning to the Board for another four years and look forward to working together to continue to ensure safe and reliable water and wastewater service to our customers,” stated Board President Bill Pommering.

Augie Caires was reelected to the board in November 2012 to his second four year term, January 2013 - January 2017. Caires was first appointed to Padre Dam’s Board in February 2007 and won the November 2008 election to serve his first term. He has over forty years of public sector experience, including his service as Padre Dam’s General Manager for thirteen years prior to retiring in 2006.

Augie Scalzitti was reelected to the board in November 2012 to his fourth four year term, January 2013 - January 2017. Scalzitti currently serves on the Customer Appeals and Park committees and is the District’s representative on the San Diego Area Wastewater Management District. He is a former local business owner of forty years, specializing in property management.

Board Officer Appointments

Bill Pommering
 was appointed to serve as board president for the third consecutive year. Pommering was first appointed to the Padre Dam Board in May 2009 and won the November 2010 election to serve his current term. Pommering serves as Padre Dam’s representative on the Santee Chamber of Commerce as well as serving on several other board committees. He has lived in Santee for over thirty years and has been in senior management positions with various firms for over thirty-two years.

James Peasley, currently serving his first four year term on the board, was appointed to serve as the 2013 board vice president. He also serves as Padre Dam’s representative on the Metro Wastewater Commission and Joint Powers Authority beginning in April 2012. Peasley has over thirty-one years of experience in engineering, including a career as water resources engineering manager at Otay Water District prior to his retirement in 2012.

Doug Wilson was appointed board treasurer for the third consecutive year. Wilson was elected to his current term in November 2010. He serves as Padre Dam’s representative on the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) Board. Wilson also serves as one of SDCWA’s four representatives on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Board. He has over twenty-one years of public sector experience, including four and a half years as General Manager for Padre Dam.

Padre Dam provides water, sewer, recycled water and parks and recreation for approximately 100,000 residents in the eastern suburbs of San Diego. Board meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 3:30pm at Padre Dam’s Customer Service Center, 9300 Fanita Parkway, CA 92071.
