CEC Cancels Friday Power Plant Workshop, Thursday Planning Commission Still On

The commission said the Quail Brush Generation Project failed to file necessary paperwork.

A public workshop set for Friday on a proposed power plant near Santee was canceled by the California Energy Commission Tuesday.

The commission said Charlotte, N.C.-based Cogentrix, the applicant for the Quail Brush Generation Project, failed to file necessary "supplemental project information" on time for the workshop.

Once the documents are delivered, the workshop on the proposed 100- megawatt gas-fired plant in the area on the Santee-San Diego city limits will be rescheduled, according to the commission.

The power plant would be built on 22 acre near a landfill. At its Thursday meeting, the is expected to discuss rezoning the area to accommodate the Cogentrix project.
