Santee residents who have registered as mail-in voters have probably already received their ballots for the June 5 primary election, or will soon.
According to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters, an estimated 724,000 vote-by-mail ballots are being distributed in the county. Deadline for applying for a mail ballot—also called an absentee ballot—is 5 p.m. May 29.
At the state level, local voters will choose a new lawmaker for the new 71st Assembly District. In that race is former Santee City Councilman faces off against Patrick J. Hurley, and John McLaughlin.
