Santee Home Sales the Highest in San Diego County in January

More homes were sold in Santee's zip code than any other in the county.

Santee's 92071 Zip Code topped the list of areas in San Diego County in which the most single-family homes were sold in January, according to data released by the San Diego Association of Realtors.

45 homes were sold in Santee in the first month of 2013, compared to 23 in January 2012- a 51 percent jump in sales. The homes were on the market for an average of 58 days and sold for a median price of $346,000, compared to 82 days and $280,000 during the same month the year before.

In San Diego County, the median price of previously owned single-family homes was $390,000 last month – lower than the previous month but 12 percent higher than a year ago. The median price of existing condos and townhomes in January 2013 also slid back from the previous month, but were 17 percent higher than January 2012.

Sales of existing homes dropped in January compared to December, a norm for the industry. However, sales were higher than the previous January: 15 percent for single-family homes and 8 percent for condos/townhomes.

“I firmly believe 2013 is going to be a great year for real estate, and I’m really pleased to see signs of that in these numbers,” said Linda Lee, SDAR’s Board President. “Interest rates remain extremely low and more inventory is entering the market. It’s an encouraging time.”
