How Big Is Santee in a Small World?

The coincidence of Santee ties to travel in Lake Havasu City AZ

Okay so I had to leave Santee to go vist the house in Havasu (it was a cheaper option than a divorce). I arrived at 4:00am Thursday morning and was on the water at 11:00am. I have to admit it was a very nice day on the water.

But, as I was waiting for my wife to back the trailer down the ramp so I could pull the boat out of the water (mind you that I was tied to the dock waiting for the truck), a young lady lost control of her boat and ran it right into mine. She was so embarrassed as we both got our boats out of the water her husband comes over to give me their info, and he say to me "Don't you live in Santee"? I said as a matter of fact I do, why? He then said that he recognized me since he lives there too.

I thought wow what a small world, right? But I does not stop there; the next day I was on the water and a group of twenty somethings found themselves stranded on the water with a dead battery. We happened to have cables and gave then a jump when we got to talking about where we are from. They were from La Jolla, and I joked with him about Santee being the La Jolla of the East County and one of the young men said "I know, all of my friends have been moving there so I am there all of the time."

Once again I thought to myself what a small world. Then the next day real disaster hits me. As I was driving the family down to the launch, I kind of noticed the driver side week of the boat trailer start to shake and then make just a wonderful noise. I guess I had not repacked the bearings in a few years and they literally disintegrated leaving us stranded on the side of the road.

Me being the monkey that I am, I decided I can fix this right there in 106 degree temperature on the side of the road. I went and got some parts and went to work and then the person who's house I "parked" in front of comes out to see what is going on. He was a very nice guy offering water and towels, and once again got to asking where we were from. I said Santee, and started to explain where exactly that is when he started laughing.

He had just moved from Santee, six months ago for a job. We both said in unison "What a small world"! Well I had some time to contemplate all of this as I waited for the tow truck to come get the boat/trailer that I probably made worse with my repair job and I wonder is it really just a "Small World" coincedence, or is our little city of Santee just sort of popping up on the radar a bit more often?
