I agree the program was a HUGE success. I currently serve as the Vice-President of the Santee School District Foundation and we were all very pleased with the reults. As was stated in the video, this required no time or money from the School District or the School District Foundation to implement. In the process of encouraging our students to get out and play as opposed to sitting inside with the PS3 or posting on Facebook, we managed to receive $1,440.00! This money goes directly back to the students and their needs in the schools. It was truly a win-win all the way around! For those who are used to traditional soccer on an open field, let me tell you the kids had a blast playing indoor soccer! For those unfamiliar, indoor does not mean inside of a building. It means that it is played in an enclosed area that looks much like a hockey rink...minus the ice! The action is non-stop and is extremely fun for the beginner. My daughter was one of the kids who joined the league and it is her first time ever playing. She is having a great time and has already asked about next season! Thanks to Sportsplex USA for all they do for our community....and more importantly....our children!

sounds again like bossiness getting inside deal with council!!! unethical ROB
Joe Spencer January 27, 2012 at 11:12 PM
While most people would simply say just ignore you....I cannot do so in this instance when you attempt to slander someone....and I was presonally involved to know that what you say is completely untrue. Rob McNelis nor any other member of city council had anything to do with the deal between Sportsplex and the Santee School District Foundation. Sportsplex approached the Foundation with an idea and we worked together to make it happen. In the end our children came out winners on both ends! They received an affordable soccer program to get out and exercise in a fun enviornment and the Foundaiton received money for each child who signed up. The $1,440 we raised goes right back into our schools in the Santee School District. The only involvement Rob had was choosing to show up at the PRESS CONFERENCE that was called by Sportsplex as they presentde the Foundation with the check. While everyone has a right to their opinion....that right does not extend to utter stupidity and saying things that are blatantly not true and publishing that into the community. If you want to blast Mr. McNelis simply because you don't like his style...hey have at it. It's your right. But don't make statements about him or anyone else that you have no idea what the hell you are talking about and are blatantly false.

joe.. unfortunately, rudy has a habit of doing that..he's trying to attract attention for his never-ending effort to get himself elected to some political office..ANY political office.. right now, he purtports to be running against dianne jacob for supervisor..although that could change in the next few minutes.. you never know.. best not to pay him too much mind here.. doug
rudy reyes January 28, 2012 at 05:00 AM
joe: in order for a insult to be insulting their must be some truth in it! Doug; I am running for county supervisor and that is my goal! for fire safety! As a way to repay the people who helped me through my rough times, and those who didnt make it thought what i had too!
rudy reyes January 28, 2012 at 05:05 AM
Cant say city wasn't invovled!! "Construction costs for this park were funded through a combination of redevelopment bonds, developer impact fees and grants" from Santee city webcite-
Doug Curlee January 28, 2012 at 05:39 AM
then maybe you better stop trying to run against the entire santee city council..and your fight isn't with the county and the board of supervisors..it's with sdg&e.. your scattergun approach isn't winning you any fans and/or voters..it's making you look faintly ridiculous..and not real smart. doug
rudy reyes January 28, 2012 at 06:04 AM
doug I fight for everyone's rights and speak out against all injustice!! city and county alike!!! I though you were a reporter and you knew how the county works! County sup decides all-fire/police for our county! thats the best place for someone like me! CREATING FIRE SAFETY FROM WITHIN POLITICS. If you dont, like just dont vote for me, but you'll realize you need me to speak for your rights too sometimes! JUST BEING AMERICAN! Dont Hate on and Crush Good Intentions!!

We weren't in discussion over whether the city was involved in the building of the Sportsplex. This article was about the donation the Sportsplex made to the Santee School District Foundation at the end of a joint project. That is where YOU brought the city council in with your ridiculous comment. I simply said that Rob nor any other member of council had anything to do with the peoject that Sportsplex and the Foundation agreed upon.
Joe Spencer January 29, 2012 at 02:55 AM
Well Mr. Reyes...there is where you are wrong...because there was ZERO truth in your comment. Rob McNelis (nor any other member of council) had nothing to do with the collaborative effort between Sportsplex and the Santee School District Foundation. If your goal is to run for ANY elected position...GREAT! But you might be better served NOT making yourself look so ignornat of the facts on this (or any other) website.
Joe Spencer January 29, 2012 at 02:58 AM
There is a difference between speaking up and speaking out versus just spitting out ramblings and accusations that have no sense or truth. If you truly have good intentions then perhaps you should reconsider your appraoach. I am all for making a difference and creating change...but you seem more intent on personal attacks (i.e Rob McNelis) than on what you bring to the table.
Doug Curlee January 29, 2012 at 03:21 AM
rudy.. in fact the county does NOT decide all fire/police for our county..santee is a contract city, and they tell the supes how much police protection they're willing to pay for, and the supes provide it.. you might have noticed santee has its own fire department.. at least, i HOPE you've noticed.. if you're going to ask people to support you at the ballot box, you seem to need a MUCH better understanding of how things actually work, as opposed to how you THINK they work.. doug

wow joe four messages yet only posted one! seems i hit a odd button with you. lol I dont ramble like you have, lol but i do fight against the political seats being used to make private profit! The people put up $-redevopment to build the sportplex yet private investors are making profit! this is where issue is. I bring up Rob because he is a real estate business owner on council! he is out for his own interests! business wise! Fox in charge of chicken house! realize there is a issue here! I personally believe chamber of commerce presidents should be in politics! ethically a conflict of interest! I have made changes in this political world, making better for people who are suffering injustices. Sued county and won a few times, ran for county sup, ran for city council, and made lemonade out of fires situation! i won't stop calling injustice what it is! Joe why didnt rob or you come to speak regarding the 11 cancer stacks from hell which is the quail brush power plant! I was there defending your rights too! rob wasnt! lol I've been wondering why any council weren't present at such a important meeting?? shoot but neither was dianne jacob! lol politicians not doing their jobs! protecting their voters!
rudy reyes January 29, 2012 at 03:44 PM
Doug the county does decide what happens within its jurisdiction. yes cities like santee have own police/fire departments yet they rely on county to advise and help fund these depts. I know very well how the system works thats why i have and am going after county seat! only endorsed to run against in 2008, and soon to be in 2012. Patience and persistence. I challenge anyone to run for a local seat! make a better community and return the political power back to citizens hands not business greed!
Joe Spencer January 29, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Well Rudy I am not quite sure what your line of four messages yet only posted one means....perhaps you missed the other responses above. The post you replied to was made at 6:58PM...but above there are posts at 6:55PM and 6:47PM. So maybe you just didnt catch that. What does it matter about someone in real estate being on the council?? First off, EVERYONE in politics has their own ideas of what should be done..but that is why there are MULTIPLE members of council. So even if Rob had every evil intention in the world....he can't do a damn thing unless the rest of the council--or at least the majority--agrees. Not to mention the fact...if you are so worried about the value of real estate...would it not seem to make sense that of ANYONE on the council Rob would be on top of all issues that affect real estate? Where does your comment about the Chamber of Commerce Presidents come into play with your argument? How is that even a conflict of interest? You ran for county sup....ran for city council.....how did those work out for you? In all sincereity what were the numbers? Were you even noteworthy in the race? For all the changes you say you have made one would think you would have much more success at running in races. As for the quail brush power plant...I cannot speak for Rob. As for myself, I had no clue about any meeting...nor the project. Thus I was not there. In reading comments it doesnt appear it is the problem you feel it is.
Doug Curlee January 30, 2012 at 02:38 AM
no, rudy..you don't know how the system works..you know how you think it ought to work..there's a big difference between those two things..and you need to figure out what the difference is before you go any further down this path.. doug
