Apply for Teen Citizen's Academy: A Law Officer's Point of View

Teenagers have the opportunity to see what life's like from an officer's point of view at an upcoming Teen Citizen's Academy presented by the of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Set for April 20 and 21, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, the free workshops are geared toward those aged 13-19, according to Barbara Wallace, the crime prevention specialist organizing the events.

Designed to inform those in attendance about the inner workings of the sheriff's department, they're also fast-paced and thus geared to appeal to the short-attention spanned, eyes-glued to mobile phone crowd, according to Wallace.

Topics covered include crime scene investigations, demonstrations of K-9 and the bomb/arson units, along with SWAT, patrol  and traffic, ASTREA and more.
