Based on a submission by Phil's BBQ
Santee's High School sports teams are now supported by the newest restaurant in town; Phil’s BBQ is now the official restaurant sponsor of the CIF San Diego Section.
Phil’s will provide their mesquite-grilled ribs, chicken and other dishes for major CIF events, as well as for the dozens of CIF Advisory Committees that do the behind-the-scenes work that make high school athletic championships possible.
The CIF San Diego Section administers high school athletic championships for all of San Diego and Imperial Counties. More than 120 public and private high schools and 70,000 student/athletes compete in 22 sports in the CIF San Diego Section.
“We’re glad to be establishing a partnership with the CIF San Diego Section,” said Phil’s BBQ owner Phil Pace. “We love to support organizations that give back to the youth in our community and the CIF does just that. Sports go a long way to help develop the character, health and morale of kids, so we’re happy to help in any way we can.”
CIF San Diego Section Advisory Committees for boys and girls basketball, soccer and wrestling, as well as girls water polo, were the first to benefit from the CIF partnership with Phil’s.
“We’re excited to provide a great meal for our advisory representatives,” said CIF San Diego Section Commissioner Jerry Schniepp.
“A lot of their work is pretty thankless. Not a lot of people know what goes into well-run high school athletic championships, but there’s a lot of work because we want our championship events to be the best. With Phil’s now on-board, we’re able to reward the coaches and athletic directors who do that work. It’s a great gesture on the part of Phil’s and we really appreciate it.”
