Rio Seco Students Learn Ecology on Field Trip Along the River

The City blog documents the educational trip with the San Diego River Park Foundation where kids learned about the river's wildlife, water quality and ecology.

A class of Santee fourth graders recently took a field trip to the San Diego River at Mast Park to learn lessons about the wildlife, water quality and ecology of the river.

Teacher Heather Glanz’s led her science class on the educational excursion with the San Diego River Foundation and city staff. Students will take photos and notes back to the classroom for further study on the eye-opening bit of nature that runs through the heart of Santee.

The Santee Review city blog went along to document the trip, which included lessons on how storm drains bring water and any pollutants in the water to the river, native plant explorations, water quality tests and more.
